Choose from our existing product catalogue, and we will modify the design to fit your brand. ODM is a faster route to market for brands that want a proven design foundation without starting product development from scratch.

Unfinished Leather and Parts 

We supply unfinished leather bases and components from our Galuchat stock, with python and crocodile also available, for designers and workshops who handle their own assembly. Galuchat (Stingray Leather)

Galuchat is prized for its distinctive pebbled surface and natural durability. In its raw state, stingray leather is naturally firm, but our traditional Galuchat techniques transform it into a soft, flexible material with a deep, even colour and a refined finish, a result of over two decades of savoir-faire rather than an inherent property of the raw material. We source our stingray leather from specialist suppliers and offer it across a curated range of 32 colours, developed through our workshop's deep-dyeing expertise rather than as one-off custom commissions. Compared with crocodile, Galuchat offers a comparable level of luxury with a more distinctive tactile surface, at a more accessible price point. Compared with python, it carries a stronger luxury perception and a texture found in no other exotic leather. We use Galuchat across our bags, wallets, jewellery, decorative objects and watchbands, and it remains the material most brands come to us for.

Python & Crocodile

While Galuchat is our specialty, we also work with python and crocodile leather for brands and projects that call for them. Python leather is valued for its natural pattern and flexibility, suited to bags, accessories, and smaller leather goods where a lighter, more pliable material is needed. Crocodile leather is a classic material in luxury leather goods manufacturing, chosen for its structure and natural grain variation. Both pair well with Galuchat in the same piece, allowing us to create distinctive luxury products that balance aesthetics, functionality, and cost.

A Note on CITES Compliance
Stingray, the species AKNAS sources for Galuchat, is not classified as endangered and is not subject to CITES regulation. Python and crocodile leather, by contrast, are regulated under CITES, and AKNAS provides the required CITES export documentation for every shipment containing these materials. Import regulations in Europe are evolving, and importers in some European countries may in future be required to obtain their own import permits, potentially including for stingray leather. We monitor these developments closely and keep our clients informed of any changes that affect their sourcing.

ODM means you select and modify an existing AKNAS design, such as changing the leather, colour, or hardware, to fit your brand without starting development from scratch.

Can AKNAS produce a custom design from scratch?

Yes. Through our OEM service, we work from your existing designs, specifications, or sketches. We do not just manufacture to the brief; we work alongside you as a partner, offering guidance on material selection and construction to help bring the design to its best possible result in exotic leather.

Is AKNAS leather sourced legally and sustainably?

Yes. The stingray species we use for our Galuchat leather is a by-product of the fishing industry. It is not classified as endangered and is therefore not subject to CITES regulations. Python and crocodile leather are regulated under CITES, and AKNAS provides the required export documentation for these materials. We monitor evolving international regulations closely to keep our sourcing compliant and our clients informed.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

Yes. 

  • For our ODM collection, the minimum order is 6 pieces for bags and 12 pieces for small leather goods and accessories.
  • For OEM projects, the minimum order quantity may vary depending on product size, materials used, and design complexity.

How long does production take?

As a small handcrafted workshop, our typical production lead time is 45 to 90 days, depending on the complexity of the project, materials, and order volume.

How does AKNAS handle international shipping and customs documentation? 

AKNAS ships worldwide directly from our workshop in Bangkok, Thailand. Because we specialise in exotic leathers, we provide the necessary export CITES certificates required for python and crocodile leather, and this paperwork processing is factored directly into your production timeline. Clients are responsible for securing the corresponding import permits through their country's relevant administrative authorities, as well as covering freight costs and local customs duties.
